The Molyvos Tourism Association is proud to announce two prestigious international mountain bike races which will be taking place in Molyvos and in the surrounding region between the 4th -9th of June, 2019, THE LESVOS – MOLYVOS URBAN MTB STAGE RACE S1 and THE LESVOS – MOLYVOS URBAN MTB XCO RACE C1, which are amongst the leading athletic mountain biking competitions in all of Greece and Europe.
The 6th Molyvos Urban MTB has once again been included this year in the calendar of the World Cycling Federation UCI, raising the bar in regards to race category with the S1 and C1 level races, thus placing Lesvos on the world map of mountain biking: http://www.uci.ch/mountain-bike/calendar
Between June 4th-7th, 2019, the LESVOS – MOLYVOS URBAN MTB STAGE RACE S1 will take place on four consecutive racing days with XCT, XCM, XCP, XCC events held in the region of Northern Lesvos, Molyvos, Petra, Stypsi, Lafiona, Petri, Vafeios, etc.
On June 9th, 2019, the classical race, LESVOS – MOLYVOS URBAN MTB XCO RACE C1, will take place along the picturesque cobblestone alleyways of the traditional settlement of Molyvos and its surrounding region.
Apart from the international races, the well-established MOLYVOS URBAN MTB OPEN and KIDS races will also be held, as every year, for the enjoyment of all our cyclists and young friends.
Taking place for a sixth consecutive year, the organization of the mountain bike races aims to promote the cultural and environmental beauty of Lesvos as a tourist destination and to highlight the unique Olympic sport of Mountain Bike “Cross Country MTB” .
In these international competitions, the best cyclists of national teams from all over the world come to participate, with the aim of gathering points for their participation in the Olympic Games of 2020.
From May 2018, the scores of athletes participating in these events are accumulated, leading to their final ranking in order to qualify for participating in the 2020 Olympics. The class C1 and S1 races award many points to the participants and the organization of two such competitions for the duration of an entire week will be a powerful incentive for athletes, both from Greece and from all over the world to come and participate in.
Registration offering special rates for the first month will begin December 20th, 2018 via the event website www.molyvosmtb.com, which will be constantly updated with information regarding the races, special offers for accommodation package deals, etc.
